HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 12,699RESOLUTION NO. 12,699 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, RELATING TO THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT OF 1968 AND SETTING FORTH THE POLICY OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY IN SUPPORT OF FAIR HOUSING WHEREAS, Section 801 of Title VIII of the U. S. Civil Rights Act of 1968 states that it is a policy of the United States to provide, within con- stitutional limitations, for fair housing throughout the United States, and WHEREAS, the City of National City, California, has made formal application to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for assistance under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 as amended, and WHEREAS, the City of National City will be utilizing U. S. Department of Housing and Urban ment Programs to enhance the social and physical environment of the community, and WHEREAS, the Secretary of of Housing and Urban Development is the National Policy of Fair Housing Develop - the U. S. Department mandated to administer in the program activities of said Department in a manner which will further the policies of Fair Housing; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City of National City, California hereby declares its commitment to promote Fair Housing in the sale, lease, or rental of housing within National City, California, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. SECTION 2. That the City Clerk is hereby instructed to disseminate the adoption of this Resolu- tion to the real estate industry doing business within the City of National City and to disseminate this Resolution in public buildings where appropriate. SECTION 3. That the City of National City, California will use its good offices in an attempt to resolve claims of housing discrimination. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of April, 1978. ATTEST:
