ATTEST:
CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
AFFIRMATIVE ACTION PROGRAM
POLICY STATEMENT
It is the fundamental policy of the City of National City to promote
equal Employment Opportunity through a program of Affirmative Action. Total
Commitment on the part of the City towards Equal Employment Opportunity will
apply to all people without regard to race, color, religion, national origin,
sex, age, or physical handicap.
Equal Employment Opportunity is a condition, and Affirmative Action is
the means by which the condition is achieved. Therefore, Affirmative Action
includes all the various methods herein stated through which Equal Employment
Opportunity for affected classes (ethnic minorities, women, physically handi-
capped and people of ages between 40-64) is made a reality. Positive, not
passive Affirmative Action as set forth in this Policy will be geared toward
Equal Employment Opportunity in the following employment practice areas where
employment discrimination is usually found: recruitment, hiring, transfers,
promotions, training, compensation, benefits, layoffs and terminations.
It is the intent of this Affirmative Action Program to comply in good
faith with all State and Federal Laws, Rules and Regulations including:
Executive Order 11246 as amended, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964,
the EEO Act of 1972, the California Fair Employment Practice Act, Office
of Federal Contract Compliance Revised Orders 4 and 14, the Rehabilitation
Act of 1973 and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967.
