RESOLUTION NO. 11,664
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A CITIZEN'S COMMITTEE
FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the need for
active and regular involvement of its citizens in the govern-
mental and civic affairs of the City, and
WHEREAS, citizen participation is best achieved under
the auspices of an officially recognized body such as a
citizen's committee
NOW, THEREFORE be it resolved by the City Council of
the City of National City that:
Section 1. There be and hereby is established
the Citizen's Committee for Community Development.
Section 2. The purpose of the Citizen's Committee
for Community Development is to receive comment from all
members of the community, ascertain community attitudes and
advise the City Council on matters concerning the physical,
social and economic development of the City.
Section 3. The committee shall consist of at least
thirteen members who shall be appointed by and serve at the
pleasure of the Mayor with the concurrence of the City Council.
This section shall, however, not limit the appointment of
additional members if so deemed necessary by the Mayor or Council
in order to further the objectives of the committee. Alternate
members may be appointed by the Mayor and shall serve at the
invitation of the committee chairperson upon resignation or
removal of regular members.
Section 4. Members of the committee shall serve without
compensation, except that any expenses incurred by members in
the pursuance of official committee activity, such as travel or
meals shall be paid by the City of National City upon claim.
Section 5. The chairperson of the committee shall be
designated by the Mayor with the concurrence of the City Council.
Section 6. The chairperson of the Citizen's Committee
for Community Development may, with the concurrence of the
committee, select and appoint subcommittees from time to time
for special assignments.
Section 7. The committee may adopt and/or amend by-
laws consistent with the purpose of its creation and function.
Section 8. Resolution No. 9700, adopted by the City
Council November 12, 1968 is hereby rescinded.
