HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 11,675RESOLUTION NO. 11,675 RESOLUTION FOR FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM WHEREAS the City has been participating in the Federal Flood Insurance Program since 1972 and it is imperative that this participation be continued; and WHEREAS the City has appealed the Flood Hazard Boundary Maps prepared by the Flood Insurance Administration because of gross inaccuracies; and WHEREAS the County of San Diego and various cities within the County of San Diego have Flood Plain Mapping Programs and important rivers and streams are being and have been accurately mapped; and WHEREAS there exists a City -County Ad Hoc Com- mittee that is coordinating the Flood Plain Mapping Program, and the members are experiencing considerable difficulty with the less accurate maps being prepared by the Flood Insurance Administration; and WHEREAS under the Federal Insurance Program the cities and the County will be required to enforce certain land use regulations; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that National City hereby recommends that maps of sufficient accuracy to allow proper flood plain management by the City be utilized and that only one official set of maps be approved by all agencies involved; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this City hereby recommends that 200 feet to the inch scale, orthophoto maps with accurate topography be utilized in National City by the Federal Insurance Administration for their Flood Hazard Boundary Maps, Flood Insurance Rate Maps and Floodway Maps. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 28th day of January, 1975.
