HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 11,726RESOLUTION NO. 11,726 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO FUND THE $170,000 OF BUDGETED COUNTY FUNDS FOR THE IMMEDIATE DEVELOPMENT OF A PORTION OF LAS PALMAS PARK IN ORDER THAT NEARBY LINCOLN ACRES AND OTHER COUNTY RESIDENTS MAY USE AND ENJOY SAID PARK FACILITIES. WHEREAS, the City Council by Resolution No. 11,244 adopted December 11, 1973 requested the County Board of Supervisors to utilize County funds to acquire vacant land adjacent to Las Palmas Park for the purpose of expanding said park facilities for use by the residents of Lincoln Acres; and WHEREAS, the County has provided $170,000 in its current fiscal year 1974-75 budget for use in expansion of these park facilities; and WHEREAS, the City of National City has since acquired a large portion of this vacant land without the use of County funds through an agreement with the California Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS, the City has now assembled approximately four acres of land which is vacant and contiguous to the existing Las Palmas Park; and WHEREAS, said assembled land and adjacent dedicated park land should be improved for the purpose of elevating the service rendered by Las Palmas Park and thus to better serve nearby County residents of Lincoln Acres; and WHEREAS, City owned and maintained Las Palmas Park now serves many County residents of the Lincoln Acres area; and WHEREAS, installation of needed park facilities with funds provided by the County of San Diego is consistent with the original intent of the City Council to improve and expand these park facilities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City that: Section 1. The County is hereby urged to immediately appropriate the $170,000 in budgeted funds to be used for installation of public park facilities in Las Palmas Park north of 24th Street. Section 2. The City Council reaffirms its desire and concern that park facilities be expanded and improved to better serve nearby County residents. PASSED AND ADOPTED this llth day of March, 1975. ATTEST:
