RESOLUTION PROTESTING APPLICATION OF PACIFIC
TELEPHONE & TELEGRAPH COMPANY FOR RATE INCREASES
WHEREAS, the City Council has been noticed regard-
ing the filing of an application for increases for intrastate
telephone rates by Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company, and
WHEREAS, said application for rate hikes to cover
still higher wages for telephone company employees is followed
by a second application for another rate hike presently before
the State of California Public Utilities Commission, and
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that said proposed
rate increases are excessive and not in keeping with the
austerity program as outlined by President Ford to aid and
abet the ailing economy of our nation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of National City definitely and unalterably opposses
proposed increases in intrastate telephone rates by Pacific
Telephone & Telegraph Company and by this resolution lodges
its official protest to be read into the record on the date
this matter is set for hearing before the Public Utilities
Commission of the State of California.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of March, 1975.
