RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF APPLICATION FOR HISTORIC
PRESERVATION GRANT-IN-AID FUNDS
(St. Matthews Episcopal Chuch Exterior Restoration Project)
WHEREAS, the Congress under Public Law 89-665
has authorized the establishment of a National Historic
Preservation Grant -In -Aid Program, providing matching funds
to the State of California and its political subsivisions
for history preservation, survey, planning development and
acquisition projects, and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and
Recreation is responsible for the administration of the pro-
gram within the State, setting up necessary rules and pro-
cedures governing application by local agencies under the
program; and
WHEREAS, said adopted procedures established
by the State Department of Parks and Recreation require the
applicant to certify by resolution the approval of applica-
tions and the availability of local matching funds prior to
submission of said applications to the State; and
WHEREAS, St. Matthew's Episcopal Church Exterior
Restoration Project was first approved by the City Council of
the City of National City on March 19, 1974, and
WHEREAS, the proposed project is consistent with
the State Historic Preservation Plan, and
WHEREAS, the project must be compatible with the
land use plans of those jurisdictions immediately surrounding
the project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City
Council hereby supports the St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in
their application for Federal Funds under the National Historic
Preservation Act of 1966 which funds are being administered by
the State Historic Preservation Officer through the California
Department of Park and Recreation.
