HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 11,521RESOLUTION NO. 11,521 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 10,891 ADOPTING THE NATIONAL CITY CIVIL SERVICE RULES AND REPEALING ALL OTHER RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH (RE: SICK LEAVE) The City Council of the City of National City does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City Council approved a revision of the National City Civil Service Rules in their entirety on November 21, 1972, under Resolution No. 10,891; and, WHEREAS, Article 3 of Section III of Ordinance No. 1076 provides that the City's Personnel Rules may be revised by the Civil Service Commission and the City Council, and may be amended from time to time by Resolution of the City Council; and, WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission held a public hearing on May 15, 1974, to determine whether to amend Section 606 (g) of Rule VI, clarifying the intent of this particular provision and changing the requirement for a doctor's certificate from mandatory to the discretion of the department head; and, WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission has sub- sequently recommended to the City Council that Section 606 (g) of Civil Service Rule VI be amended to read as follows: (g) "Physician's Statement: When absence is for more than three (3) consecutive working days, the department head shall require the employee to furnish a certificate or statement from a regular licensed and practicing physician, at his own expense, whose license will be honored by the County Health Officer, indicating the nature and duration of his incapacity, or other adequate evidence if the employee was not examined by a physician. The appointing authority may require evidence of incapacity in cases of short periods of absence." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City does hereby offic- ially approve that Section 606 (g) of Civil Service Rule VI, as adopted by Resolution No. 10,891 dated November 21, 1972, be amended as prescribed above in this resolution. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of June, 1974. ATTEST:
