HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 11,125RESOLUTION NO. 11,125 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 10,891 ADOPTING THE NATIONAL CITY CIVIL SERVICE RULES AND REPEALING ALL OTHER RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT THEREWITH The City Council of the City of National City does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City Council approved a revision of the National City Civil Service Rules in their entirety on November 21, 1972, under Resolution No. 10,891; and, WHEREAS, Article 3 of Section III of Ordinance No. 1076 provides that the City's Personnel Rules may be revised by the Civil Service Commission and the City Council, and may be amended from time to time by Resolution of the City Council; and, WHEREAS, at the request of the Personnel Officer, the Civil Service Commission held a public hearing on June 20, 1973, to determine whether to amend Section 316 (c) of Rule 3, relative to the initial period of time that an eligibility list is in effect; and, WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission has sub- sequently recommended to the City Council that the initial time period of a Civil Service eligibility list be extended from 6 months to 12 months from the date of promulgation, with one (1) six month extension allowable upon the approval of the Civil Service Commission. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City does hereby officially approve that Section 316 (c) of Civil Service Rule 3, as adopted by Resolution No. 10,891 dated November 21, 1972, be amended to read as follows: Section 316 (c.) -"Duration of List: An eligible list shall be in effect from the date on which it is promulgated for a period of twelve (12) months, unless extended by Commission action. Such extension by the Commission shall be for a period not in excess of one (1) additional six (6) month period, at the request of the department head involved, through the Personnel Officer; and shall be accomplished prior to the expiration date of the first twelve (12) months. The Commission may, by unanimous vote, abolish an eligible list or re-employ- ment list, upon finding that there has been fraud or collusion affecting the eligible list, or for reason of unsuitability of examination. The reason for abolishing a list shall be specifically set forth in the minutes of the Commission." PASSED AND ADOPTED this 17th day of July, 1973. ATTEST:
