HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 11,017RESOLUTION NO. 11,017 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF ASSEMBLY BILL 885 EXTENDING STATE. ROUTE 54 FROM ROUTE 5 TO TIDELANDS AVENUE WHEREAS, the .State of California intends to construct State Route 54 from Route 805 to Route 5, and WHEREAS, Route 54 should extend from Route 5 to Tidelands Avenue in National City and Chula Vista so as to provide proper access to important industrial and commercial areas adjacent to and along Tidelands Avenue, and WHEREAS, the cost of constructing such an exten- sion and off -ramp system places an unfair burden on local jurisdictions because of special construction and relocation problems connected therewith, and WHEREAS, the extension of Route 54 to Tidelands Avenue with, appropriate connecting ramps, is a logical exten- sion of State highway systems, the cost of which should be borne by all the users of the State highway system, and WHEREAS, Wadie P. Deddeh has introduced Assembly Bill No. 885 to amend Section 354 of the Streets and Highways Code to provide for the extension of Route 54 to Tidelands Avenue in National City and Chula Vista, and WHEREAS, the City Council of National City believes it is in the vital interest of National City and Chula Vista that said route be extended, and the cost thereof be borne by all the highway users of the State; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of National City endorses Assembly Bill 885 extending Route 54 to Tidelands Avenue in National City and Chula Vista and calls upon the State legislature and the Committees thereof to pass said bill. PASSED AND ADOPTED this loth day of April, 1973. ATTEST
