RESOLUTION URGING THE GRANT OF CABLE TELEVISION
SYSTEM CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE
WHEREAS an Agreement has been executed by the
City of National City and Mission Cable TV, Inc. granting a
franchise to engage in the construction and operation of a
Cable Television System in the City, and
WHEREAS the Federal Communications Commission on
February 2, 1972, adopted new Cable Television Rules and in
Section 6, Item 190, expressed the intent to avoid further
delay in making cable television service available for sub-
stantial public benefits, and
WHEREAS a majority of citizens of the City of
National City have been denied access to cable television
during more than six years of exhaustive studies by the
Federal Communications Commission, and
WHEREAS the City of National City franchisee has
submitted application for Certificate of Compliance as re-
quired by Subpart B of the Federal Communications Commission's
Cable Television Rules and Regulations adopted on February 2,
1972,.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of National Citythat it being in the best interests
of thecitizens of our community, that the Federal Communications
Commission be urged to diligently and expeditiously grant a
Certificate of Compliance, consistent with the new Cable Tele-
vision Rules and Regulations, to the applicant franchisee of
our City without further delay.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Attorney is hereby
directed to file with the Federal Communications Commission an ap-
propriate communique expressing the Council's position in the matter.
