HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 10,893RESOLUTION NO. 10,893 RESOLUTION URGING DEFEAT OF SENATE .BILL 107 AND PASSAGE OF SENATE BILL 4, RELATING TO STATE WATER PROJECT WHEREAS, the State Assembly will be voting shortly on Senate Bill 107 and Senate Bill 104, and WHEREAS, proposed Senate Bill 4 would permit the timely development of the Eel River water supplies for the $2.8 billion State Water Project after a 5-year moratorium as compared with a 20-year moratorium in proposed Senate Bill 107, and WHEREAS, recent developments indicate that water from the Eel River may be needed by the State Water Project before Senate Bill 107 would permit development of this im- portant water source as specified under the Burns -Porter Act approved by the voters in 1960, and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 107 would evoke a 30-year delay before delivery of needed water from the Eel, since it establishes a 20-year moratorium on planning of a project, which would require an additional 10 years to build; NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City urges the California Legislature to adopt Senate Bill 4 andvote for the defeat of Senate Bill 107. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the legislators of San Diego County be forwarded a copy of this Resolution urging passage of Senate Bill 4 and defeat of Senate Bill 107 by the California State Legislature. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of November, 1972. ATTEST:
