RESOLUTION PROVIDING TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR
THE COLLECTION OF GARBAGE AND RUBBISH IN THE
CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City
of National City as follows:
Pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 1038
adopted by the City Council of. the City of National City
on the 16th day of August 1962, the following terms and
conditions by which garbage and rubbish will be removed
from residential, multiple residential, commercial and
manufacturing units in the City of National City are hereby
established and adopted:
1. All garbage shall be placed by the occupant
of any premises in a container for garbage made of metal,
plastic or fiberglass with handles and covers which are
water and fly tight, having a capacity of not less than two
and one-half gallons nor more than ten gallons.
2. All garbage containers shall be thoroughly
cleaned after each collection.
3. Any container for the collection of rubbish
shall conform to the following specifications:
a. Such container shall be made of either
metal, plastic, fiberglass.
b. Such container shall be in the form of
truncated cones or cylinders.
c. The capacity of any such container shall
not exceed forty-five gallons.
d. The maximum weight of empty containers
shall not exceed twenty-five pounds.
e. The maximum weight of loaded containers
shall not exceed eighty pounds.
f. The interior surface of the containers
shall be smooth and shall not have any exterior projection
which interferes with the emptying of the containers.

g. Anything to the contrary in the above
provisions notwithstanding, the following shall also be
permitted to be used as rubbish containers:
(1) Rectangular wooden boxes not exceeding
two and one-half cubic feet capacity;
(2) Metal wash tubs;
(3) Sanitary boxes, or commercially known
as "Dumpster Boxes";
(4) Any container which does not comply with
the requirements hereby established or which deteriorates to
the point where it does not comply with such standards will
be tagged and will be considered rubbish if not replaced by
the next regular collection day;
(5) Any containers for the deposit of
garbage or rubbish shall be placed on the day of collection
on the premises at or near the alley property lines and in
such a position that it will be readily accessible to the
collector; in the event there is no alley other than a blind
alley in the rear of the premises and there is a side entrance
to such premises, each container, parcel or bundle shall be
the premises at an accessible point near the street
