HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 10,726RESOLUTION NO. 10 , 7 7 ti RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING HOLIDAYS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES AND A POLICY REGARDING THESE HOLIDAYS The City Council of the City of National City, California does hereby resolve as follows: WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of. National City, in conjunc- tion with the formulation of the salary plan for the fiscal year 1972-73, have recommended that new policies be adopted regarding holidays for employees of the City of National City. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of National City, after due consideration, the following policy is hereby adopted, establishing all of those holidays as listed in Section 6700 of the Government Code of the State of California, as same may be amended, to -wit: January 1 February 12 The Third Monday in February (Washington's Birthday) The Last Monday in May (Memorial Day) July 4 The First Monday in September (Labor Day) September 9 The Second Monday in October (Columbus Day) The Fourth Monday in October (Veterans Day) December 25 Statewide Election Days Good Friday from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. Every day appointed by the Governor of this State for a public fast, Thanksgiving, or holiday provided, further, however, that from and after July 1, 1972, the City Offices will not be closed on February 12, (Lincoln's Birthday); the third Monday in February, (Washington's Birthday); September 9, (Admission Day); the second Monday in October, (Columbus Day); and the fourth Monday in October, (Veterans Day), and that employees may take equivalent time off for said holidays which shall be designated as "floating holidays", which equiva- lent time off may be taken off on any working day including such days desig- nated for said holidays. Such equivalent time, or the floating holidays, must be taken off during the fiscal year wherein they were earned, and should not be accumulated and taken in consecutive days except at the discretion of the department head and with the approval of the City Manager. When any of the holidays listed herein fall on a Saturday, the preceding Friday shall be deemed to be a holiday in lieu of the day observed, and when any of the holidays listed herein fall on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be deemed to be a holiday in lieu of the day observed.
