A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF AN APPLICATION WITH THE
OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY OF THE BUSINESS AND TRANSPORTATION AGENCY
OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, the California Traffic Safety Program was enacted by the
California State Legislators, effective August 28, 1967, as an urgency mea-
sure for providing the authority for California to participate in and imple-
ment the requirements of the Federal Highway Safety Act of 1966, and
WHEREAS, the Office of Traffic Safety of the Business and Transportation
Agency has been organized by the State of California to administer said traffic
safety programs and disburse State and Federal funds, and
WHEREAS, the City of National City, California has undertaken a pre-
school and kindergarten pedestrian safety training program; an education
program for pedestrian, bicycle and school bus safety in the elementary
grades; and a training program for Junior Patrol Boys and Girls to provide
effective ways of safe guarding school children, and
WHEREAS, it is desirable and appropriate to the City of National City
to apply for funds to provide needed equipment to improve and expand upon
the existing programs within the framework of the above mentioned program
and plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, the Governing Body of said applicant, as follows:
SECTION 1. That an application be made to the Office of Traffic
Safety of the Business and Transportation Agency of the State of California
for a grant to improve and expand upon the existing Pedestrian Safety Program
of the City of National City, the amount of the grant is estimated to be
$10,899.00 which is the total expected cost required for the improvement and
expansion of said program.
SECTION 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
execute and file said application with the Office of Traffic Safety of the
Business and Transportation Agency of the State of California.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager or his Assistant for Project Develop-
ment are authorized and directed to provide such additional information and
to furnish such other documents as may be required by such office in connec-
tion with said application which is herein authorized to be filed.
SECTION 4. That the Mayor of the City of National City be authorized
and directed to execute such contracts or agreements as are required.
SECTION 5. That the United States of America and the State of
California be and hereby are assured of full compliance by the City of
National City with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
