HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 10,081RESOLUTION NO. 10i081 RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF UNIFORM BUILDING REGULATIONS IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY WHEREAS, it is recognized that the bulk of the popu- lation of San Diego County is a part of one large metropolitan area with city limit boundaries being contiguous to each other in many instances; and WHEREAS, it is recognized that construction costs of buildings within our metropolitan area can be adversely affected by a difference in building regulation requirements between juris- dictions; and WHEREAS, the cost of providing inspection department services increases when these differences in building regula- tion requirements exist between the various jurisdictions of San Diego County; and WHEREAS, it is recognized that differences in build- ing regulations between the various jurisdictions in our County can be a source of confusion and inconvenience to designers, developers, builders, material suppliers, and others who use these regulations; and WHEREAS, the San Diego Chapter of the International Conference of Building Officials has by its letter dated April 6, 1970, presented a proposal to assure that these differences in building regulation requirements within San Diego County be reviewed and reduced to an absolute minimum; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City does concur with the objectives and approves the proposed procedure outlined in the letter of April 6, 1970, from the San Diego Chapter of the International Conference of Building Officials and this Council does hereby direct its Building Department Director to participate in those scheduled meetings of the San Diego Chapter of the Internation- al Conference of Building Officials which are called for the purpose of reviewing building code regulations and amendments thereto within San Diego County jurisdictions and to partici- pate in the development of as much uniformity in these regula- tions as practicable. The City Council further directs that its Building Department Director bring to the attention of this Body all amendments endorsed by the San Diego Chapter of the Internation- al Conference of Building Officials with his recommendation re- garding their adoption by this legislative body. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all ordinances (or Muni- cipal code amendments) which are adopted by this legislative body which affect building regulation (not including land use code requirements) and which did not originate as a result of prior endorsement by the San Diego Chapter of the International Conference of Building Officials are directed to be forwarded to said Chapter for their information and determination as to whether they should be recommended for adoption by all other jurisdictions within San Diego County.
