RESOLUTION SUPPORTING INTRODUCTION OF A BILL
PROVIDING THAT DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME BE OBSERVED
NATIONALLY ON A YEAR-ROUND BASIS
WHEREAS, in the majority of the states in the
nation, confusion arises twice a year; namely, changing
from standard time to daylight savings time on the last
Sunday in April and back again to the standard time on
the last Sunday in October, and
WHEREAS, Congressman Craig Hosmer and other
legislators have checked thoroughly into this matter, and
the bill does bear merit in many ways and would be extreme-
ly advantageous to all fields of industry and to family life
in general, and
WHEREAS, among some of the advantages that a year-
round daylight savings time schedule would bring is more
leisure time out-of-doors for families, and more after school
playtime for children during the fall and winter months, and
WHEREAS, it is apparent that most crimes are com-
mitted after dark, and so a year-round daylight savings time
would tend to lessen crime, and
WHEREAS, from an economic standpoint, year-round
daylight savings time would provide for a decrease in elec-
tricity costs for each family, and
WHEREAS, year-round daylight savings time would un-
doubtedly bring about a decrease in traffic accidents during
the after -work rush hours;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
