RESOLUTION OPPOSING SENATE BILL 1414 REGARDING
MANDATORY WAGES, HOURS AND VACATION FOR POLICE OFFICERS
WHEREAS, the provision of police services is a
matter of home rule, and
WHEREAS, the wages, hours and vacation benefits
of Police Officers is a matter for local government, exclusive-
ly, and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1414 seeks to impose mandatory
wages, hours and vacation benefits for Police Officers, re-
gardless of the ability of the local community to pay the same,
and regardless of the decision of the local governing body as
to what is best to do for a particular community, and
WHEREAS, the proposals of Senate Bill 1414 will im-
pose numerous financial obligations on the cities of California;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of National City opposes Senate Bill 1414 and
urges the defeat of said bill.
