HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 9883RESOLUTION NO. 0 85 RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE RELOCATION OF GRANGER HALL WHEREAS, Granger Hall has been a significant his- torical site in National City since its construction, and WHEREAS, the land upon which Granger Hall has been situated has been purchased and will be developed for resi- dential purposes, and WHEREAS, the present owner intends to dismantle Granger Hall, and WHEREAS, the dismantling of Granger Hall would make the loss of a historically significant building in National City, and WHEREAS, the South Bay Historical Society desires to embark on a fund raising campaign to establish a trust fund to move Granger Hall to a permanent site and rehabilitate the building for public use, and WHEREAS, the City Council of National City desires to encourage such an effort by the South Bay Historical Society, and WHEREAS, the City Council of National City desires to express its intention to make City land available for the relocation of a restored Granger Hall, and WHEREAS, the City Council of National City desires to express its intentions to provide a permanent resting place for Granger Hall, if the South Bay Historical Society can raise suf- ficient funds to relocate and rehabilitate Granger Hall; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of National City hereby expresses its intent to make available Cityowned land east of the intersection of 4th and Palm for the relocation of Granger Hall. The City Council hereby en- courages the South Bay Historical Society to embark upon a fund raising campaign to provide the money necessary to relocate and rehabilitate Granger Hall so that Granger Hall may be rendered fit for public occupancy. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of National City hereby expresses its intent to enter into a lease with the South Bay Historical Society for a permanent site for Grnager Hall if the South Bay Historical Society can raise sufficient funds both to relocate Granger Hall and to rehabilitate Granger Hall so that it is fit for pub- lic occupancy.
