RESOLUTION DECLARING THE INTENTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY TO INITIATE ON ITS OWN MOTION
PROCEEDINGS TO ANNEX CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY AND
GIVING NOTICE OF TIME AND PLACE FOR HEARING
OF PROTESTS THERETO
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National
City:
1. That the City Council of the City of National City,
for the reasons hereinafter mentioned, proposes to initiate on its
own motion, proceedings to annex to the City of National City all
of the territory hereinafter described, as uninhabited territory,
under the provisions of the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act
of 1939.
2. That the City Council's reasons for proposing to in-
itiate said annexation proceedings are as follows: The annexation
of the hereinafter described territory will contribute to the orderly
growth of the city, provide the proper control of street layout,
drainage, sanitary sewer design, and insure the proper use of land
in conformity with the overall zoning plan of the city.
3. That the territory which the City Council proposes to
annex is hereby identified as "Duckpond Annexation", and consists of
all that real property situated in the County of San Diego, State of
California, described as follows:
All those portions of Quarter Section 152 of Rancho
de la Nacion in the County of San Diego, State of California,
according to Map thereof No. 166 by Morrill, filed in the Office
of the Recorder of said county May 11, 1869, lying within the
following described boundary:
Beginning at an angle point in the boundary of the
City of National City as established by their Ordinance No.
1130 adopted June 28, 1966, at the intersection of the East
line of National Avenue with the Northerly line of Thirtieth
Street as shown on Map No. 1067 of Budd Villa Tract on file in
the Recorder's Office of said county;
a. Thence Southerly along the boundary of National
City and along said East line of National Avenue to its inter-
section with the Southerly line of the Northerly 40 feet of
Thirty-second Street as dedicated by Copeland's Subdi-
vision according to Map thereof No. 978, being also the
Southerly line of said Quarter Section 152;
b. Thence leaving said boundary of the City of
National City Easterly along said Southerly line of the
Northerly 40 feet of Thirty-second Street a distance of
356 feet, more or less, to its intersection with the South-
erly prolongation of Easterly line of the Westerly 26 feet
of Lots 1 through 10, inclusive, in Block 2 of said Cope-
land'; Subdivision;
c. Thence Northerly along said prolongation of
said Easterly line of the Westerly 26 feet of said Lots 1
through 10 to the Northerly line of said Lot 1, Block 2
of Copeland's Subdivision;
d. Thence Easterly along the Northerly line of
said Block 2 of Copeland's Subdivision and its Easterly
prolongation to the Easterly line of the Westerly 40 feet
of "B' Avenue as dedicated by said Copeland's Subdivision;
e. Thence Northerly along said Easterly line of
the Westerly 40 feet of "B" Avenue a distance of 40 feet
to its intersection with the Southerly line of the North-
erly 40 feet of Thirty-first Street as dedicated by said
Copeland's Subdivision;
f. Thence Easterly along said Southerly line
of the Northerly 40 feet of Thirty-first Street to the
Southerly prolongation of the Westerly line of the Easter-
ly one-half of Lot 10, Block 3 of said Copeland's Subdi-
vision, being also an angle point in the boundary of the
City of National City as established by their Resolution
No. 9029 adopted November 23, 1965;
g. Thence Northerly along said boundary of the
City of National City to an angle point therein being also
to the Northerly line of Lot 8 in said Block 3;
h. Thence Easterly along said boundary of the
City of National City to anangle point therein and the
Northeasterly corner of said Lot 8;
i. Thence Northerly along the boundary of said
City of National City to an angle point therein as established
by their ordinance No. 1034 adopted July 3, 1962 and to the
Northerly line of Thirtieth Street as shown on said Map No.
1067;
j. Thence Westerly along said boundary of the
City of National City to an angle point therein as established
by their Ordinance No. 994 adopted May 2, 1961 being on the
centerline of "B" Avenue as shown on said Map No. 1067;
k. Thence Southerly along said boundary of the
City of National City and along the Southerly prolongation
of said center line of "B" Avenue, 40 feet to an angle point
therein;
1. Thence Westerly along said boundary of the
City of National City to an angle point therein being to
the Southerly prolongation of the centerline of "A"
Avenue as shown on said Map No. 1067;
m. Thence Northerly along said boundary of
the City of National City to an angle point therein and
to the Northerly line of said Thirtieth Street;
n. Thence Westerly along said boundary of the
City of National City being along the Northerly line of
said Thirtieth Street to the point of beginning.
4. That on September 16, 1969, at the hour of
8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers in the Civic Center of the
City of National City, California, is hereby fixed as the time
and place when and where any person owning real property within
the uninhablited territory above described and proposed to be
annexed to the City of National City, and having any objections
to the proposed annexation, may appear before the Council of
the City of National City and show cause why such uninhabited
territory should not be so annexed to the City of National City.
The protest must be in writing, may be filed at any time be-
fore the hour set for hearing objections to the proposed an-
nexation, and shall state the name or names of the owner or
owners of property affected and the description and area of such
property, in general terms.
S. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to take the steps set forth in Resolution No. 8088 of this City
Council with reference to this proposed annexation.
