HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 9700RESOLUTION NO. 97L) RESOLUTION APPOINTING A CITIZENS COMMITTEE FOR COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of National City has adopted a Workable Program demonstrating its determination to use all its resources to eliminate and prevent slums and blight, and WHEREAS, a successful long-term Program depends in large measure upon active participation by local citizens, and WHEREAS, the keystone of a community Program is citizen participation, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY AS FOLLOWS: 1. That there be and hereby is established the Citizens Advisory Committee for Community Improvement. 2. The Citizens Advisory Committee for Community Improvement shall consist of five (5) members, who shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Mayor with the concurrence of the City Council. Members of the Committee shall be residents of the City of National City. 3. The Citizens Advisory Committee for Community Improvement shall: a. Inform themselves of their community's activities - in progress and contemplated - and the needs for improvement with respect to planning, code adoption and enforcement, housing, public facilities, urban renewal and other Workable Program activities. b. Assist in developing objectives and goals for improvement. c. Inventory the couuiunity resources - public and private, present or needed - for accomplishing these objectives. d. Learn and pursue the methods and means for 1,4 achieving the determined goals for improvement. e. Nerve as, the medium for bringing private resources into the Program. f. The Committee shall advise the City Council, from time to time, concerning the foregoing duties. 5. The Chairman of the Citizens Advisory Committee for Community Improvement with concurrence of the Committee may select subcommittees from time to time, to pursue Workable Program objectives such as Minority Group Housing, Public Information, Community Planning Program, Neighborhood Improvement and Participation, Codes, Adoption and Enforcement, Home Financing, Relocation Housing, Urban Renewal and Public Housing, and Capital Improvements. PASSED AND ADOPTED this ATTEST: day of November, 1968.
