HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 9333RESOLUTION NO. 9333 RESOLUTION IMPLORING CITIZENS TO SHOW GREATER RESPECT FOR LAW AND ORDER TO DETER INCREASING CRIMINAL ACTIVITY AND URGING LEGISLATIVE RECONSIDERATION FOR JUST AND FAIR ADJU- DICATION OF PERSONS CONVICTED OF ACTS CONTRARY TO SOCIETY WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of National City is dismayed and disturbed by the overwhelming evidence showing increase in crimes and criminal activity, and WHEREAS, the City Council feels that citizen aware- ness of the increasing crime problem can result in measures to prevent and control these costly and detrimental activities, and WHEREAS, the City Council is especially alarmed at the erosion of moral fibre to the youth of America through the use of dangerous drugs, especially narcotics and LSD, and WHEREAS, the City Council feels that conscientious efforts by law enforcement personnel are often handicapped because of court rulings resulting from legislative enactments that are ambiguous and discretionary; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City: 1. That all citizens are implored to show a greater respect for law and order with the pledge of utmost cooperation extended to aiding law enforcement personnel in the discharge of their duties. 2. That the Legislature declare in specific terms and provisions the penalties to be assessed against persons convicted of criminal activity. 3. That copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Governor of the State of California, members of the State Legislature from San Diego Count, all cities in San Diego County with the hope that they will also adopt similar resolutions.
