HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 9414RESOLUTION NC. 941 4 RESOLUTION ENDORSING ASSEMBLY DILL 2454 AND OPPOSING SENATE BILL 721, ALL RELATED TO Ti-LE ALLOCATION C%GAS�S TAX MONIES WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of National City has heretofore endorsed Assembly Dill 2454 and has also gone on record opposing Senate Dill 721, and I'HBREAS, said Assembly Bill 2454 would remove the existing burdensome financial and administrative obligations from the cities assisting in the early acquisition and con- struction of select system streets and provide for the ai:nten<nce of all streets in accordance with the recom- mendations of City Engineers and Directors of Public Works, and '-EREAS, said Assembly Bill 2454 does contain necessary safeguards to insure the responsible and expeditious expenditure of gas tax funds while eliminating the deficiencies present in the existing law, and WHEREAS, Senate Bill 721 would drastically reduce the opportunities of many cities to properly and fully utilize their share of gas tax funds by eliminating, among other things, contributions by subdividers to streets on the select system as qualifying for credits, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of National City now strongly feels that an additional plea to Senator Collier, whose efforts on behalf of municipal governments tc provide adequate public improvements and whose contributions to this end are well recognized. NOW,TI- iEL CRE B 1 ; ED that theCity , TT �SDL,� vit,� Council of the City of National City, on behalf of themselves and the citizens of this community, do hereby reiterate their strong endorsement of Assembly Bill 2454 and their opposition to Senate Bill 721 as being opposed to the best interests of all the municipalities and the most expeditious and responsible management for the allocation of gas tax funds in the interest of the State as a whole, t BE IT F JRTHPR ':-SOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City does hereby go on record as expressing their appreciation for the past efforts and con- tributions of Senator Collier and does hereby urge Senator Collier and the members of the Senate Committee on Trans- portation to review Assembly Bill 2454 and recommend favorably on said bill. EBJ ZT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of National City be, and she is hereby directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to Senator Colliery the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Transporta- tion, and to all members of the San Diego County Legislative Delegation.
