RESOLUTION OPFOSING EXTENSION OF THE BROWN ACT
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 133 and Assembly Bill 245 are
now being considered by the California Legislature, and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of National City
desires to inform its local legislators of its position on
subjects of vital concern to local governments, and
WHEREAS, the application of the Ralph M. Brown Act
to the affairs of local government is of vital concern;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of National City is opposed to amending the Ralph
M. Brown Act to require that sub -committees of a legislative
body, when composed of two or more members, must be open and
public; and their meetings noticed in the same manner as
special meetings of the legislative body.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of National City is opposed to any amendment to the Ralph
M. Brown Act which would further restrict the right of its
City Council to consult with its attorney.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the
City of National City is opposed to amending the Ralph M.
Brown Act to require an announcement of the matter to be dis-
cussed at an executive session.
'BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is auth-
orized and directed to transmit copies of this resolution to
the Senate Committee on Governmental Efficiency and the As-
sembly Committee on Government Organization.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is
authorized and directed to communicate with the aforesaid
Committees the reasons for the City's opposition to the pro-
posed amendments to the Ralph M. Brown Act.
