RESOLUTION REQUESTING REMOVAL OF
ARBITRARY ASSESSMENT RATES TO SMALLER TOWNS
WHEREAS, National City businesses ship and receive
goods throughout the United States, and
WHEREAS, shipments moving Trans -Continental, con-
signed to National City, California by rail, truck, freight
forwarder and air freight, are assessed the San Diego, Cali-
fornia rates (see Appendix A), BUT truck shipments consigned
to National City, California „ (Group W857) taking class rates
from Rocky Mountain Tariff Bureau 21B, originating from
Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas are as-
sessed a nine percent (9%) increase over the San Diego, Cali-
fornia rates (Group W856), and
WHEREAS, National City is generally considered to be
within the San Diego pickup and delivery zone in almost all
tariffs except Rocky Mountain Tariff Bureau 21B, and
WHEREAS, National City, California is located on all
main truck lines, and
WHEREAS, due to National City's excellent location on
major freeways it is easier for trucks to get in and out of
National City than parts of San Diego,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of National City, California, hereby requests the
Rocky Mountain Tariff Bureau to immediately remove the arbi-
trary assessment rates to smaller towns outside the central
area and to give National City, California the same rate as
San Diego, California.
