RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT
WITH THE NATIONAL CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
National City, California that the Mayor is hereby authorized.
and directedto execute, and. the City Clerk is authorizedand
directed to attest, that certain "CONTRACT BETWEEN CITY OF
NATIONAL CITY AND NATIONAL CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE."

CONTRACT BETWEEN CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
AND
NATIONAL CITY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into as of the 26,th
day of August, 1965, b, and between the City of National City,
California, a munaczpal corporation, in the County of San Diego,
State of California, hereinafter designated as City and National
City Chamber of Commerce, an association, hereinafter designated
as Advertiser.
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS, Advertiser is the National City Chamber of
Commerce which
tains full tine offices at 711 "A" Avenue in
the City of National City, California and which has special ex-
perience and facilities for promotion and advertising work to
be done and performed for the City of National City; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City to employ said
National City Chamber of Commerce as its agent for the purpose
of advertising, exploiting, and making known the resources of
the City for the purpose of inducing immigration to and increa-
sing the trade and commerce of said City, and otherwise calling
attention to its resources, its enterprises andits adaptability
for industrial sites, all pursuant to the Government Code of
the State of California; and
WHEREAS, it has been found by said City that exhibits
and floats, a Maytime Band Review, a Miss National City Contest,
a Buy in National City Campaign as well as other special events
and services will promote the general welfare of said. City and.
will publicize and advertise said City and will make known the
enterprises of said City and will increase the trade and com-
amerce of said City, and that as a result in years past, Adver
tiser has performed certain services for City for such purposes
and has handled certain phases of the work necessary to conduct
such activities and programs, and the City Council does further
find and does hereby determine that the expenditure of the sum
of $18,000.00 for the conducting of such activities and programs
is proper for the purposes hereinabove set forth;
PAW, THEREFORE, it is mutually agreed as follows:
1. That Advertiser shall use its facilities and its
special knowledge and experience in carrying out such activities
and programs pursuant to the terms of this agreement and that
the City hereby agrees to pay Advertiser the sum of $18,000.00
(Eighteen Thousand Dollars) subject to the terms, conditions
and restrictions posed by this agreement;
2. Advertiser covenants and agrees that it shall ex-
pend from the funds paid to it pursuant to this agreement not
more than the sum of
$ 475.00 for City Street Map
600.00 for Exhibits and. Displays
5,500.00 for ,daytime Band Review
3,000.00 for Salute to Navy Week
500.00 for Miss National City Contest
2,200.00 for Freeway Bulletin Boards
500.00 for Industrial Promotion
1,900.00 for Christmas Decorations
1,72.5.00 for Float
1,600.00 for City Information Service
$18,000.00 TOTAL
3. City agrees to pay Advertiser said sum in monthly
installments of up to $1,500.00 per month, all such sums paid to
be substantiated by itemized statement of moneys actually spent
or liabilities incurred by Advertiser pursuant to this contract.
4. That the term of this agreement ,' 1 erpirci ,n
June 30, 1966;
5. That it is hereby mutually agreed that no part of
any money paid by the City to Advertiser shall ever be used to
pay any part of the salaries of its officers;
6. That on or before the first day of each month
during the term of this agreement, beginning w th September 1,
1965, Advertiser shall submit to the City a report giving details
f the steps taken by Advertiser to carry out the purposes her-
inabove set forth in this agreement, an evaluation of the results
of such activities andprograms and further setting forth bills
itemised in detail showing the expenditures made and work done
with the sums provided by City to Advertiser pursuant to this
agreement;
7. It is distinctly understood and agreed

tiser shall not be entitled to receive any compensation for its
own services as such in conducting said program, and that the
entire sum paid Advertiser by City pursuant to this agreement
shall actually be paid out by Advertiser for the sole purpose of
conducting the activities and programs hereinabove defined.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, said. City has taus

ment to be executed by its Mayor andattested by its City Clerk
and Advertiser has caused this agreement to be executed by its
President and its Secretary thereto duly authorized, the day and
year in this instrument first written.
