HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 9010RF-SOLUTION NO, 9010 RESOLUTION ENDORSING BOND PR01-USAL FOR THE SWEETWATER JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICT WHEREAS, Southwestern College is in its fifth year of providing college level educational opportunities to high school graduatesand adults, and WHEREAS, Southwestern College is providing the first two years of undergraduate work equivalent to that offered by colleges and universities, and WHEREAS, Southwestern College is providing a program of terminal education in vocational competence to meet the needs of industries, business, trades and professions in the district, and WHEREAS, Southwestern College has become a cultural center for the area, and WHEREAS, Enrollment increases have resulted in South- western College classrooms being used to capacity, and WHEREAS, projected enrollment for the fall of 1966 indicates additional classrooms will be needed for Business Education, Mathematics, Liberal Arts and Speech Arts, and WHEREAS, in the years following 1966 more class- rooms will be needed in other subject areas, and WHEREAS, there is a needfor the additional facilities so that students will not be denied an opportunity to attend col- lege, and WHEREAS, a two-thirds majority on October 19, 1965 is required to authorize this bondissue, making it imperative that all qualified voters be informed of the urgent need for the ad- ditional facilities for Southwestern College; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council of the City of National City hereby endorses the $1,200,000 bond proposal, and urges its members to publicize as far as possible the urgency of the proposal in order to assure a majority vote in excess of the required two-thirds vote neces- sary for successful passage.
