HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 8541RESOLUTION NO. 8541 RESOLUTION HONORING PAST PRESIDENTS WHEREAS, the City Council deems it fitting and proper to honor certain past presidents of the United States of America who are now deceased, and WHEREAS, it is felt by the City Council that an appropriate way in which to honor such presidents is to dis- play photographs or paintings of certain of such presidents in the public buildings of the City of National City, and George WHEREAS, in Washington and displayed on opposite Gity of National Gity the past, likenesses of President President Abraham Lincoln have been walls of the Council Chambers of the and a photograph or painting of the then current presidents has been displayed on the wall of such chambers directly facing the audience, and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Council to honor the memory and achievements of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy by also displaying a photograph or painting on the fourth wall of said Council Chambers as well as in other public buildings in the City of National Gity; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved as follows: 1. That as soon as possible after the adoption of this resolution, photographs or paintings of Presidents George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, John Fitzgerald Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson shall be displayed on the four walls of such rooms in the public buildings of the City of National City as are designated by the City Manager. 2. That the photograph or Lyndon B. That upon the swearing in of the President next succeeding President Lyndon B. Johnson as the President of the United States, that a photograph or painting of such new pres- ident shall replace that of President Lyndon B. Johnson, and upon the swearing in of each successive president thereafter, a photograph or painting of such new president shall replace that of his predecessor. 6. That a copy of this resolution be sent by the City Clerk to the President of the United States, the Congress of the United States, each United States Senator representing the State of California, each member of the United States House of Representatives representing San Diego County, the Governor of California, each Assemblyman and Senator repre- senting San Diego County in theCalifornia Legislature, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, the Superintendent of National City School District, and the City Councils of Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Coronado, Del Mar, El Cajon, Escondido, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, Oceanside, San Diego, San Marcos and Vista.
