HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 8420RESOLUTION NO. 8420 RESOLUTION CITING THE URGENCY AND NEED FOR RAPID DEVELOPMENT OF THE FEATHER RIVER PROJECT WHEREAS, the Supreme Court of the United States on June 3, 1963 rendered a decision which greatly reduced the rghts of the Metropolitan Water District to the water from the lower Colorado River basin, and WHEREAS, the demands of the County of San Diego for an adequate supply of water are rapidly increasing and loss of any part of the present water supply will greatly impair the health and welfare of the residents of said County of San Diego, and WHEREAS, the FEATHER RIVER PROJECT under present plans calls for two branches, and the establishment of the easterly branch, extending into the Antelope Valley and southerly to the Perris Reservoir is essential to provide an efficient and economical supply of high quality water to San Diego County, and WHEREAS, certain interests are seeking delivery of water by the west branch only at this time, which would be extremely detrimental to San Diego County areas and other areas, NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of National City as follows: That said City Council hereby goes on record as declaring the urgency and need in the rapid development of the entire FEATHER RIVER PROJECT and the completion of the east branch by the year 1972 or earlier, as essential to the survival of the San Diego County area.
