HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 8284RESOLUTION NO. 8284 WHEREAS, The March of Dimes National Foundation this year ggebraees its Twenty -Fifth. Anniversary; and WHEREAS, this organization was originally founded by President Roosevelt as the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis to conquer a single, dreaded disease - paralytic polio; and WHEREAS, during the course of a quarter of a century of polio, research prevention and patient aid the initial goal has been realized through the development and successful use of the Salk polio vaccine, although the disease has not been completely eradicated nor is the need lessened for rehabili- tation of and assistance to polio victims; and WHEREAS, with the continued support of the American people the National Foundation, having crossed this important threshold, now turns its vast resources to the solution of other perplexing diseases; and WHEREAS, The Mothers March on Dirges and the March of Dimes Parade originated in the City of National City, showing a definite interest in the support of this program and its desire to conquer polio; and WHEREAS, the 1963 March of Dimes Parade to be held January 20, 1963, fma National City and the Mothers March on January 31, 1963, throughout the United States, NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of National City, as follows: That this Council on behalf of its members and of the citizens of the City of National City do hereby commend and congratulate the March of Dimes of the National Foundation on its Twenty- Fifth :anniversary and do hereby urge continued support by all its citizens of this worthy cause. PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 15th day of January, 1963. ATTEST: CITY CLERK
