A RESOLUTION OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 474, 1963
REGULAR (GENERAL) SESSION OF THE CALIFORNIA LEGISLATURE
WHEREAS there has been introduced in the California
Legislature, 1963 Regular (General) Session, a bill titled
Assembly Bill No. 474, the purpose of which said bill is to
exclude the City of Coronado from the San Diego Unified Port
District Act and which said bill if enacted would exclude the
City of Coronado from the San Diego Unified Port District,
and
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of National
City firmly believes that the City of Coronado must be retained
in the San Diego Unified Port District and must remain subject
to the provisions of the San Diego Unified Port District Act,
and
WHEREAS the passage of said Assembly Bill No. 474
would seriously endanger the effectiveness of the San Diego
Unified Port District Act, and
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
National City hereby resolves as follows:
That the City Council vigorously voices its op-
position to the enactment of Assembly Bill No. 474 of the 1963
Regular (General) Session, and to the enactment of any legis-
latior similar to said Assembly Bill No. 474;
That every effort be made by the citizens of National
City end all the citizens of the other cities constituting the
San Diego Unified Port District to defeat Assembly Bill No. 474
and ary similar legislation;
That the City Clerk of the City of National City is
hereby authorized and directed to send a certified copy of
this resolution to each of the representatives of the electors
of National City in the California State Legislature, to the
City Councils of the cities of San Diego, Chula Vista, Imperial
Beach and Coronado, to the Joint Chambers of Commerce Port
Committee, to the Committee on Municipal and County Government
and to the San Diego Unified Port District.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 13th day of February, 1963.
