HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 8125RESOLUTION NO. 8125 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA AUTHORIZING FLOOD PLAIN INFORMATION STUDY. WHEREAS, the Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army has been author- ized under Section 206, Public Law 86-645 (Flood Control Act of 1960), to prepare flood plain information studies; and, WHEREAS, the County of San Diego and the City of National City have grown rapidly in population since World War II and land within their jurisdictions has become very valuable, precipitating the development of the flood plains of main watersheds, within said jurisdictions, usually with little re- gard for possible flood damage to such developments; and, WHEREAS, the County of San Diego is deemed to be the ap- propriate agency to present to the Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army, ?:he request for the aforesaid flood plain information studies; NOW, THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of National City authorizes the County of San Diego to petition the Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army, to prepare information and technical advice under the above -mentioned Section 206 to formulate a factual basis for; Reducing future flood damages and hazards through carefully considered and well planned local regulation and use of flood plains; Developing land use plans which may include con- sideration of justifiable flood protective works; Preserving adequate floodway and channel rights -of - way and channel clearances. BE: IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County of San Diego is author zed as the responsible agency to cooperate with the State of California and the Corps of Engineers in this matter and to disseminate and explain the information compiled and provided in flood information reports: BE: IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of National City does give assurance that it will assist the County in providing planning and zoning agencies, organizations, and other interested -1- indivicuals with the flood plain information for guidance and appropriate action; and will preserve and safeguard all survey markers, monuments, etc., established in any Federal surveys undertaken for Section 206 studies. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution will be forv.arded by the City Clerk of said City of National City on 12 une 1962, to the Board of Supervisors, County of San Diego by the following vote: YEAS: Councilmen: Alien, Colburn, Hart, MorP•an, Gautereaux NAYS: Councilmen: None ABSENT: Councilmen: None PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 12th day of JUNE, 1962.
