HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 8138RESOLUTION NO. 8138 RESOLUTION OF CONSENT AUTHORIZING THE CALLING OF AN ELECTION FOR THE FORMATION OF A SAN.DIEGO.UNIFIED PORT DISTRICT WHEREAS, a certain bill entitled Senate Bill No. 41, relative to the establishment of a San Diego Unified Port District has been passed by the legislature in the 1962 first extraordinary session, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of National City reaffirms its policy and desire to cooperate with the legislature, and the other legislative bodies involved in establishing a proper San Diego Port Authority. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of National City believes that the voters registered within the limits of the City of National City should have the opportunity of voting on the question of whether or not the San Diego Unified Port District should be formed, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: 1. That the Council of the City of National City hereby authorizes the Board of Supervisors of San Diego County to call for an election for the formation of the San Diego Unified Port District. 2. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 7, Senate Bill No. 41, the City Council of the City of National City hereby calls for the creation of the San Diego Unified Port District, for the purpose of improving and developing the harbor, and declares that in the event the San Diego Unified Port District is created, that the tide and submerged lands owned by the City of National City should be granted to the said district.
