RESOLUTION MAKING PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION AND
FIXING HEARING DATE IN RE OLIVEWOOD HOUSING PROJECT
WHEREAS, by Quit Claim Deed made the 24th day of September,
1954, made by the United States of America, acting through the
Housing and Home Finance Agency, the Public Housing Administra-
tion, under and pursuant to the provisions of the Lanham Act,
did remise, release and forever quit claim to City of National
City, its successors and assigns, all those certain lands in the
City of National City, California commonly known as the Olive -
wood Housing Project; and
WHEREAS, said deed is recorded in Book 5410 at page 330
et seq. in official records of the recorder of the County of
San Diego, State of California; and
WHEREAS, the lands commonly known as the 0livewood Housing
Project are more fully described in said deed and reference is
hereby made to the description contained in said deed and said
description is hereby made a part of this resolution by ref-
erence; and
WHEREAS, prior to the making and execution of said deed,
the United States of America did require that the City of
Nationa; City make certain representations to it regarding the
use of said land and the improvements located thereon, and the
disposal of same; and
WHEREAS, one of the representations required to be made
by the City of National City to the United States of America
is contained in Resolution No. 6187 Amended, passed and adopted
on the 15th day of June, 1954 by the City Council of the City
of National City; and
WHEREAS, said Resolution No. 6187 Amended contains said
representation in the following words and figures:
"IV" That the applicant will continue to operate
said housing as long as it is needed to meet the
local housing requirements of the National Defense
Industries."
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council
of the City of National City during the past several months
that a question has arisen as to whether or not said 0livewood
Housing Project is now needed to meet the local housing
requirements of the National Defense Industries.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL
CITY DOES FIND, DETERMINE, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
1. That a hearing should be held and conducted by the
City Council of the City of National City to determine whether
or not the Olivewood Housing Project is needed to meet the
local housing requirements of the National Defense Industries.
2. That the time and place of said hearing is hereby
fixed at the hour of 2:00 o'clock p.m. on the 6th day of
September, 1960 in the City Council Chambers in the City Hall
of National City, California.
3. That at said hearing any one interested may present
evidence to the City Council which tends to show either that
the said 0livewood Housing Project is or is not needed to meet
the local housing requirements of the National Defense
Industries.
4. That the City Council will receive either oral or
written evidence at said hearing. That all witnesses will
testify under oath at said proceedings.
5. That the City Clerk be and hereby is authorized and
directed to give special notice in writing of said hearing to
the following: the Housing and Home Finance Agency, the
Public Housing Administration, the Department of the Navy,
the Commandant of the Eleventh Naval District, the National City
Chamber of Commerce, Rohr Aircraft Corporation, Ryan
Aeronautical Company, and General Dynamics Corporation.
6. That the City Clerk be and hereby is authorized and
directed to publish notice of the time and place of said
hearing at least twice in the National City Star News and in
the San Diego Union, said publication to be completed not less
than ten days prior to said hearing.
7. That John L. Stewart and Gene T. Devlin, Certified
Shorthand Reporters, be and hereby are appointed as the
official reporters to transcribe all of the proceedings taken
at the time of said hearing.
