HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 7069RESOLUTION NO. 7060 WHEREAS, The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California has announced its intention to increase the rates to water users in the County of San Diego amounting to twenty-five percent (25%) for domestic use; WHEREAS, study of all the available data indicates that such an increase is not warranted; WHEREAS, the adoption of the proposed rate schedule would appear to foster sectionalism; WHEREAS, the fostering of sectionalism does not appear to be in the best interest of The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California or the taxpayers thereof, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City as follows: 1. The City Council of National City hereby expresses its opposition to the increase in rates proposed by The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. 2. The City Council of National City hereby urges the Board of Directors of The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California to study the proposed rate increase further and to withhold placing any proposed rate increase into effect until such further study has been made. 3. That the City Clerk forthwith send copies of this resolution to the Secretary, the General Manager and the General Counsel of The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and to the Secretary, General Manager and General Counsel of the San Diego County Water Authority.
