HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 6658RESOLUTION NO. 6658 RESOLUTION ENDORSING PROPOSITION "W" ON JTJNE 5 PRIMA_-Y ELECTION BALLOT WHEREAS, The population of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, now more than six million, is increasing at an amazing rate, and is creating an im- perative need for larger water deliveries, and WHEREAS, there is urgently needed an accelerated construction program to bring the District's Colorado Riv- er Aqueduct to its full planned delivery capacity of more than a billion gallons a day, and WHEREAS, San Diego County is now largely depend- ent upon Colorado River Water to meet its industrial, agri- cultural and domestic needs, and completion of the Metro- politan's Aqueduct will assure a continued supply from this source, and WHEREAS, Proposition "W" on the June 5 ballot provides a financing plan with no tax increase for com- pleting the aqueduct construction program by authorizing issuance of short term notes which will be repaid within 12 years, with interest, from the annexation fees now be- ing received by the District over a 30-year period from areas which have annexed to it in recent years, and WHEREAS, Proposition "W" thus makes possible during the next few years, the investment of a part of an assured future income due over a 30-year period to bring our aqueduct to its full delivery capacity with- out new tax money, NOW, THEREF :tl , BE IT RESOLV D that the Cs1 Y COUNCIL of CITY OF NATIONAL CITY does here- by endorse Proposition "bti" on the June 5, 1956 Primary election ballot and urges its approval by the voters.
