HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 6299RESOLUTION NO, 6299 WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the Wherry Act, a housing project is now being completed in that portion of the City of San. Diego, California, known as Paradise Hills; and WHEREAS, the City of San Diego has afforded no roads of access to said Paradise Hills housing project, and the building of the same because of the terrain would be very expensive; and WHEREAS, as a result, the only means the residents of said Paradise Hills housing project have of reaching their resid- ences therein is by using the streets of the City of National City; and WHEREAS, a traffic count taken by the City of National City shows that due to the building of said Paradise Hills housing project the traffic on 8th Street East of Harbison has increased Fourteen Percent (14%); the traffic on 18th Street at Rachael has increased Thirty-eight Percent (38%), and the traffic on Harbison between 16th and 18th Streets has increased Fifty Percent (50%); and WHEREAS, ,the City of National City is unable to provide funds for maintaining and improving the said streets used by the residents of said housing project to reach Paradise Hills; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City as follows: The City of National City hereby requests the United States of America to take appropriate action to afford the City of National City relief from the burden imposed upon it as a result of the build- ing of the Wherry Housing Project in the Paradise Hills section of the City of San Diego, California. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this Resolution be sent to Senator Knowland, Senator Kuchel, Congressman Wilson and a±sa-t . the County Assessor of San Diego County, PASSF:T) AND ADOPTED on the 7' day of December, 1954.
