NATIONAL CITY desires certain changes in the rules, recommenda-
tions and job classifications of said Civil Service; and
WHEREAS the Civil Service' Commission of said City
has legally made such recommendations to the City Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of CITY OF NATIONAL CITY as follows:
That the recommendations of the Civil Service Com-
mission, as set forth on the attached Exhibits be, and they
are hereby, approved

Gentlemen:
This Commission finds that the hearing on change of
Rule 1.1 was duly and r.:.-julerly called. No one vas
present abjectino to the ;proposes change. The following
amendment to the rules of the Civil Service Commission
has been approved and is .submitted for your approval
pursuant to section 13.4 of said rules:
Rule 1.1 MEETINGS: The Civil Service-Cov'",ission ehal1
hold at least one regular meeting each month, which
meeting shall be on the third Wednesday of each month
until changed by resolution of the Civil Service Commission
adopted by a four fifths vote. The chairmen or three
members rs. of the Commission may call a special meeting.
The followina specification has also been approved
for amendment to reed as follows:

Under the supervision and direction of a Department Super—
intendne t or lead Man to do maintenance work on the City
streets or sewers; to operate pneumatic equipment; use hand
tools for installing Sewers; to spread aspi,alt and use
tools and equipment for the construction and maintenance of
City streets;, to crake minor repairs on tools and equipment,
to act as truck driver Wolper and to do related work as re—
quired. This.classification may be used in filling the
position in the Street, Sewer, Park or any other City
Department.
MINIMUM STA DAFDS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth
grade; experience in maintenance work including the use of
handtools for at least one year; additional experience may
be'substituted for education ona year for year basis; possess
or be able to obtain a chauffeur's license; physical endurance
to do heavy outdoor work.

The proposed change is as follows:

The following specifications have been approved
by the Civil Service Commission and are submitted
for your approval. These job classifications were
included in the salary ordinance but do hot have
specifications. Their adoption will merely bring the
position -classification planinto agreementwith the
salary ordinance.

Under supervision, to spray and brush paint street
lines. curbs, posts, buildings, park and street equip-
ment; to prepare and mix paints; to perform such o'"her

One year of experience and the equivalent of a twelfth
grade education; experience may be substituted for
education on a year for year o si s; cox" tial knowledge of the
materials, tools, and methods used in bete rough and finish
carpentry; semi -skill in both rough and finis c ,reentry
and in the use and care of carpenter tools; ability to
prepare rough sketches of work and estimates of rater-!als
and labor; ability to understand and carry out oral and
written directions.
PARK LE\D
Under the supervision and direction of the Park Super-
intendent to Perform maintenance -,or in City Parks,
Parkways, ' and on City owned or controlled areas; to act
as a foreman on maintenance • and construction projects; to
lay out and direct work and to perform related or .as
