HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 5872RESOLUTION NO. % Y (_ ems--7- WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of National City is informed that proceedings are pending before the Water Pollution Control Board of the State of California, San Diego Region No. 9, in reference to proposed pumping of raw sewage originating in the Spring Valley Basin over a divide into a sewage disposal area near Sweetwater Springs and Sweetwater Reservoir; and WHEREAS, the proposed area for sewage disposal is approximately 3,000 feet from the high water level of the Sweetwater Reservoir; and WHEREAS, the proposed area for sewage disposal is 138 feet higher in elevation than Sweetwater Reservoir, result- ing in a steep slope for drainage of 243 feet per mile; and WHEREAS, the flow from Sweetwater Springs enters Sweetwater Reservoir alongside the outlet of the aqueduct extension through which Colorado River water is delivered into Sweetwater Reservoir and when said aqueduct is in use the flow from Sweetwater Springs is conveyed rapidly into said Reservoir; and WHEREAS, water stored in Sweetwater Reservoir is used by. 61,000 people for domestic purposes in the Cities of National City, Chula Vista and unincorporated areas known as Sweetwater Valley and the South Bay area; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City as follows: 1. That all appropriate action be taken by the City of National City to prevent the proposed pumping of raw sewage originating in the Spring Valley Basin over the divide into a sewage disposal area near Sweetwater Reservoir. 2. That protest be made to the Water Pollution Control Board of the State of California, Region No. 9, and all other interested governmental agencies and that the Mayor and City Attorney be and they are hereby directed to appear at a hearing to be held before said Water Pollution Board, Region No. 9, Wednesday, March 11, 1953 at 7:30 P.M. in the Kinder- garten Room, Casa de Oro Elementary School, Ramona Drive and Agua Dulce Blvd., Casa de Oro, in support of this protest. 3. That copies of this Resolution be immediately transmitted to: A. Mr. Fred J. Hansen, c/o Freeland -Peterson & Evenson, Consulting Engineers, 602 Spreckels Building, San Diego 1, California. B. Water Pollution Control Board, San Diego Region No. 9, 3441 University Avenue, San Diego 4, California.
