Gentlemen: At the Planning Commission Meeting of May 21, 1951, the Peti— tion No. 388 of Mr. Dale Mann, 545 East 14th Street, National City was opened for discussion by the City Planning Commission. Mr. Mann had been present at the previous Planning Commission Meeting on May 7, 1951 and stated his desire to petition for zone variance to allow him to use a business telephone at 545 East 14th Street for a limited period until he could construct a new real estate and insur— ance office elsewhere in the City. He stated that his real estate license is enactivated and there would be no signs on the premises, that he merely wished to use the business telephone for calls for his insurance business. He was notified by the Commission that he should petition for the zone variance and they would take action when it was presented to therm. At the meeting of May 21, 1951, Commissioner Lindholm stated that on his way to the Planning Commission Meeting he had noticed a sign advertising real estate was still in evidence at the home of Dale Mann and asked what the Commission thought they should do about this matter. As Mr. Mann was not present, he could not be questioned about the existence of this sign. After discussion of this problem, the Commission agreed to lay this matter over until the next meeting and that Mr. Mann should be contacted and notified of their action at this time. City Planner Wagner stated that he had contacted Mr. Mann after the meeting of May 21 and notified him of the action of the Planning Commission. Mr. Mann promised Mr. Wagner that he would remove the sign and thathis license was enactivated and would like to appear before the Commission at the meeting of May 28, 1951. Honorable Mayor and City Council -2- June 4, 1951 Mr. Mann stated that he was sorry he had not removed the sign in time but had removed it after his conversation with Mr. Wagner and that is license definitely was enactivated.
