National City, California, that the salaries of sewer
inspectors appointed by the City, be $275.00 per month,
plus $25.00 per month automobile allowance, effective
March 15, 1949.

THE CONDITION OF THE ABOVE AND FOREGOING OBLIGATION IS SUCH, that, whereas,
the said Principal has entered into the annexed contract with the City of National
City to furnish the electric current for, and the maintenance of, a street light-
ing system in the City of National City, California; such furnishing of current
for, and maintenance of, to be done according to the plans and specifications on
file in the office of the City Clerk in the City of National City, California,
under Document entitled *City Engineer's Report on National City Lighting District
Such furnishing of current for, and maintenance of, said lighting system to
be paid for a period of one (1) year, to commence on the 1st day of August, 1944
and continue up to and including the 31st day of July, 1943.
The same to be done in striet compliance with the terms and conditions of
said contract and specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk of said
City.
Also, to protect and hold harmless the said City against any and all damages,
costs or expenses on account of damage to persons or property, or for the use or
infringement of any patents, or from any account whatever, arising or growing out
of the execution of said contract, all as in said contract specifically set forth.
NOW, THEREFORE, if the said principal shall faithfully perform the said con-
tract, then the above obligation to be void; otherwise, to remain in full force
and effect.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, said Principal and Surety have caused this instrument
to be executed, and their corporate names and seals to be hereunto affixed byI'

CONTRACT
THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this day of
,1944, by and between SAN DIBGO GAS & ELECTRIC COMPANY, a corporation
organized and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the State of California,
hereinafter called the "FIRST PARTY", and THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, a municipal
corporation in the County of San Diego, State of California, hereinafter called the

That, IIER$AS, the said first party, as will fully appear by reference to
the proceedings of the City Council of the Cit,T• of National City, has been awarded
the contract for the work hereinafter mentioned:.
to it NOW, TORE, the respective parties hereto do promise and agree as follows,
Said First Party, for the consideration hereinafter mentioned, promises
and agrees with the said Second Party, that it will do and perform, or cause to
be done and performed, in a good and workmanlike manner, under the supervision
of the Superintendent of Streets, all of the following work, to -wit:
The furnishing of electric current for the lighting of the following streets
in the City of National City, California, to -wit: on NATIONAL AVENUE, in said City,
between the southerly curb line of Fifth Street and the northerly curb line of
Tenth Street; EIGHTH STREET, in said City, between a line parallel to and 10 feet
westerly from the westerly line of National Avenue and the westerly curb line of
A Avenue; together with the maintenance of the posts, wiring in posts and lamps
on the aforesaid streets, between the points hereinbefore mentioned. Such-fur-
Znighi.ng of electric current and such maintenance of appliances shall be for a
period of one year from and including August 1,1944, towit: to and including
July 31,1945.

specifications contained in the report of the Superintendent of Streets of said
City, being Document No.10514, on file in the office of the City Clerk of said
City; it being understood that, wherein said specifications refer to "Time of
Lighting', the basis of measurement of the total
Standard Time, and it is the intent that allburning hours was ameitot

such tine, or times, as Pacific War Time may be in effect.
For this ose�such lamps as burn until midnight under Pacific Standard Time
shall burn until 1:00 A.M. under Pacific War Time.
And said Second Party hereby agrees that when said work shall have been
accepted by said Superintendent of Streets itidll pay to said First Party the
msuummof Three Hundred Ninety-one and 80/100 ($391.8c) Dollars in twelve equal
monthly installments, drawn upon the General Fund of said City, the first payment
to be made on the 4th day of September, 1944, and subsequent payments on the said
day of each month thereafter until tally paid.
And said Second Party further agrees that when said work shall have been
accepted by said Superintendent of Streets it will pay to said First Party the
sum of Three Bendred Ninety-one and SO/100 ($391.80) Bollars in twelve equal
monthly installments, drawn upon that Special Find in the hands and under the
control of the City Treasurer of said City, designated as 'National City Lighting
District No.1 Fund," the first payment to be made en the 10th day of September,
1944, and subsequent payments on the same day of each month thereafter until
fullypaid.

assessed.
IN WITNESS F, the said First Party has caused these presents to be
executed by its Viee-President and attested by its Secretary, and its corporate
seal to be hereto attached, and the said Second Party has caused these presents
to be executed by the Mayor of the City of National City and attested by the
City Clerk of said City, the day and year first hereinabove written.
