Deputy o gib j. OFFICE OF ERNEST J. BOCE. COO NCII.MAN SAN DIEIQ 1,DALIFDRNIA July 23, 1946 The Honorable Mayor and Council of The City of National City National City, California Gentlemen: Enclosed herewith is draft of a Resolution which I presented at a meeting of the San Diego Division of the League -of -California Cities, Friday evening, July 19, in the City of El Cajon, and'which was unanimously adopted at that Meeting. It is generally conceded that this Resolution is constructive -- that the political subdivisions contributing to the State Sales Tax are justified in asking that a reasonable return be made to them on the basis of their share to the State. A resolution passed by your Body would, without question, be of material help in convincing the various authorities that we feel this rdturn to be justifiable. I trust that your Body may see fit to pass a resolution worded as it sees fit but carrying out the principle of the enclosed resolution which is, in fact, a request that the People be given an opportunity to vote whether or not the counties and municipalities should have re- turned to them by the State one-half of one oe t of the State Sales Tax, to be used for county and municipal purposes. s ery wt EJB/r c Enc.1 r75r1-"4V Q?mfm.
