RESOLUTION No.
WHEREAS, one Thomas L. Turner has commenced a proceeding
in and for the County of San Diego,
in the Superior Court of the State of calforniajwherein and where
by he has procured an alternative writ of mandate directed to the
Sweetwater Water Company, a corporation, commanding said corpora-
tion to supply and henceforth to continuously supply the said
Turner with water for beneficial use upon lands in his petition
in said action descibed, which lands are situate in the Ek-lassio
of San Dego, in the County of San Diego, or to show cause why it
•
should not so do; which proceeding is now pending; and
WBJPIEAS, it is apparent that numerous applications to
said corporation and to the Railroad Commission of the State of

California are likely to be made for the purpose of procuring wat-
er from the Sweetwater Water System for use upon lands in the Ex-
ssion of San Diego not now being supplied therewith; and
WHEREAS, the said Sweetwater Water System constitutes
the sole available source of water supply of said city and its
inhabitants, and it is the opinion of all those best informed o'-
the facts that there is not sufficient water under the contro
of
said water system to make it possible to supply areas outside of
the cities of National City and Chula Vista., not already supplied
therewith, without endangering the safe and adequate supply of

water now actually applied to the beneficial use of said cities
and their inhabitants, all in derogation of the prior rights of
said cities and their inhabitants in said system and in the supply
of water furnished thereby;
NOW, THEREFORE, RESOLVED BY T}E BOARD OF TRUSTRES of
the City of National City, California, that the city Attorney of
said city bf National City be and he is hereby authorized and di-
rected in behalf of said city and in its name and as its act to
Intervene in said mandamus proceeding and oppose the application

o f said TurneD and to take all such steps in said proceeding
as he shall deem necessary or proper to protect the priorities
o f said city of ¼tiona1 City, and its inhabitants in the use
o f water from said system and to prevent the increased use of
water therefrom in said Ex -Mission of San Diego or the extension
o f the use of such water to new areas therein.
