RESOLUTION NO. 31/0.
RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO GRADE A STRIP FORTY FEET
IN WIDTH, TO -WIT: TVNTY FEET ON EACH SIDE OF TP.E
DENTER LISTE OF iiIGF]LAND AVENUE IN THE CITY OF
NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA, FROM THE SOUTHERLY LIIJE
OF EIGHTH STREET IN SAID CITY TO THE LINT SEPARAT-
ING QUARTER SECTION OIL HUNDRED PIFTY'-ONE AND 021E
HUNDRED FIFTY-TiF/0, RANCHO DE LA NAC I ON, AND TO GRATE

TEEN PEET ON EACH SIJSE OF THE CENTER LINE OF SAID
HIGHLAND AVENUE FROG,? THE POINT LAST 1VJENTI023ED, TO THE
SOUTHERLY MUNiCIPAL ZI2dTTS OF SAID CITY, AND TO CON-
STRUCT CERTAIN CULVERTS AND BRIDGES IN SAID STREET .
RESOLVED: that it is -the intention of the Board
of Trustees, of the City of National City, California, to order
the following street work and improvement to be done in said
City, to -wit;
The grading of a strip forty feet wide, to -wit: twenty
feet on each side of the center line of Highland Avenue, in the
City of National City, California, from the southerly line of
Eighth Street in said City, to the Line separating quarter sec-
tions one hundred fifty -'one and'nne hundred fifty-two, Rancho
de la Nacion, and also the grading of a strip thirty feet wide,
to -wit: fifteen feet on each side of the center line of Highland
Avenue in said City from the line separating quarter sections one
hundred fifty-one and one hundred fifty-two, Rancho de la Nacion,
to the southerly municipal limits of taid City, together with
all intersections of cross streets in said City with said strips
so to be graded, excepting, however, all portions of said strips
and of the interjections of cross etreetswith said stripe already
graded to the official grade thereof, or by this board ordered
to be so graded, and excepting also all portions of said stripe
and of the intersections of cross streets therewith used by the
track between the rails and for two feet on each aide thereof, of
any person or company having railroad tracks thereon;
All to the official grade tgereof andin accordance with
the specifications contained in Ordinance No. 323 of the Ordinances

precribing specifications for the grading of streets in the City
of National City, California,' duly passed and adopted on the
first day of March, 1910;
Also that there be constructed in said Highland Avenue
culverts and bridgea as follows:
One ten inch round corrugated ingot iron culvert with
its accessories, including wing walla and abutments in the640e
gutter line of Highland Avenue in said City, at and across the

One' - sixten feet long, the
southerl e4441feetndof which shall be at a point € northerly
from the enter line of Twelfth Street as it intersects Highland
Avenue in said City.
One twenty-four inch round corrugated ingot iron culvert
with its accessories, including wing walls and abutments along
the outherly line of Thirteenth Street in said City across
said Highland Avenue;
One twelve inch round corrugated ingot iron culvert with
its accessories, including wing walls and abutments in the
southerly gutter line of Sixteenth Street in said City across
the intersection of the san4' with said Highland Avenue;
One twelve inch round corrugated ingot iron culvert
with its accessories, including wing walls and abutments in the
southerly gutter line of Eighteenth Street in said City across
the intersection of the same with said Highland Avenue.
One twelve inchround corrugated ingot iron culvert with
its accessories, including wing walls and abutments in the
easterly butter line of said Highland Avenue, across its inter

one four foot (inside diameter) corrugated ingot iron
culverts with concrete head walls acaoc+s said Highland Avenue on
a line parallel to and one hundred fifty feet northerly from the
center line of Twenty -Sixth Street in said City;

One timber bridge ninetyiu.eix feet long, the northerly
end of which shall be three hundred thirty feet southerly from
the line separating quarter sections one hundred fifty one and
one hundred fiftyitO, Rancho de la Nacion.
That all of said culverts and bridges shall be in
accordance with the plans, drawings and cross -sections, typical
and otherwise. and additional specifications applicable thereto
contained in the document numbered "B 12 II" on file in the
office of the City Engineer of said City, which plane, drawings,
and cross sections, and additional specifications, are hereby
approved and adopted as the plans, draw1ng8, cross sections, and
additional pecifications, for said work, and by reference to
said document are incorporated herein as part of this resolution.
That the contractor or contractors to whom the contract
for doing said work shall be awarded, at his own expense,
furnish all apparatus, materials, and dirt necessary to complete
said work and to bring the portions of said street so to be
graded to their Bald official grade, and shall also take and
remove from said street all excess dirt that may result from
doing said work. All of said work shall be .done under thsatilr8*,ion and to the satisfaction of the Superintendent of Stree e o „
That the cbntemplated work and improvement hereinbefore
mentioned is in the opinion of said Board of Trustees of more
than Local and ordinary public benefit, and the expense of said
work and improvement is made chargeable upon the district herein
after described, and said Board of Trustees does hereby declare
said district benefited by said work and improvement and to be
assessed to pay the costs and expenses thereof. Said district
consists of that certain real property in the City of national
City, California, bounded and described as follows, towit:
Beginning at the intersection of the easterly line of
said Highland Avenue with the northern municipal boundary line
of said City, thence north 71° east along said northern municipal

boundary line of said City one hundred twentyfive feet to a

point, thence south 19° east on a line parallel with the said
easterly line of said Highland Avenue to a point on the southerly
municipal boundary line of said City one hundred twenty-five feet
easterly from the easterly line of said Highland Avenue; thence
south 71° west alonbq said southerly municipal boundary line of
said City to a point thereon one hundred twenty-five feet westerly
from the westerly line of said Highland Avenue; thence north 19°
west on a line parallel with the westerly line of said Highland
Avenue to a point on the northerly municipal boundary line of
said City one hundred twenty -.five feet westerly from said wester
ly line of said Highland Avenue; thence north 71° east along said
northerly boundary line of said City to point of beginning.

That the National City News, a newspaper printed and
published weekly in said City of National City, California, is
hereby designated as the 'newspaper in which this resolution of

intention shall be published twice, in the manner required by
law.
That the City Clerk of the City of National City,
California, be, and he is hereby, directed to cause this Teso1u-
tion to be published twice insaid newspaper designated as afore-
said For that purpose.
That the Street Superintendent shall immediately after
the adoption of this resolution of intention cause to be con-
spicuously posted along the line of said contemplated work and
Improvement and also along all streets within said district at

hot more than three hundred feet all, notices which shall be
headed "Notice of Improvement" in letters of not less than one inch
in length; and shall, in legible characters, state the fact of
the passage of this resolution of intention, its date, and briefly
the work and improvement proposed, and shall refer to this Reso1u'
tion of Intention for further particulars all in manner and form as
