RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY
AUTHORIZING THE 30-DAY REVIEW AND PUBLIC COMMENT OF
THE NATIONAL CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT'S GRANT APPLICATION
IN THE AMOUNT OF S100,000 FROM THE 2010 CITIZEN'S OPTION
FOR PUBLIC SAFETY (COPS) GRANT, WITHOUT MATCHING FUNDS
FROM THE CITY, AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A FIRE
SUPPRESSION SYSTEM, MOBILE COMPUTER AIDED DISPATCH (CAD)
SYSTEM, STORAGE SERVER FOR THE PUBLIC SAFETY CAMERA
SYSTEM, VEHICLE COMPUTER DOCKING STATIONS, AND FUNDING
FOR THE SAN DIEGO REGIONAL COMPUTER FORENSICS LAB
WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 3229, Chapter 134, Statutes of 1996, established the
Citizen's Option for Public Safety (COPS) Program to provide Supplemental Law Enforcement
Services Funds (SLESF) for public safety purposes; and
WHEREAS, the COPS Grant is a direct grant allocation program, and does not
require the City to allocate any up -front costs or matching funds; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department's spending plan stated that the grant funds
would be used for the purchase of a fire suppression system, mobile computer aided dispatch
(CAD) system, storage server for the public safety camera system, vehicle computer docking
stations, and funding for the San Diego Regional Computer Forensics Lab for the Police
Department.
WHEREAS, the Police Department is required to make the grant application
available for review and public comment for not fewer than 30 days.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
National City hereby authorizes the 30-day review and public comment of the National City
Police Department's Citizen's Option for Public Safety (COPS) grant application, and upon the
expiration of the 30 day review and public comment period, authorizes the expenditure of said
grant funds for the of purchase of a fire suppression system, mobile computer aided dispatch
(CAD) system, storage server for the public safety camera system, vehicle computer docking
stations, and funding for the San Diego Regional Computer Forensics Lab.
