HomeMy WebLinkAboutCC RESO 2020-213RESOLUTION NO. 2020 - 213 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE DISARMING PROHIBITED PERSONS (DPP) GRANT, UNDER AB 340, IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000 FOR FISCAL YEAR 2020 THROUGH FISCAL YEAR 2022, AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT FOR THE AWARD OF THE GRANT FUNDS, AND AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT GRANTS FUND APPROPRIATIONS AND A CORRESPONDING REVENUE BUDGET, IN THE AMOUNT OF THE GRANT FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF OVERTIME, FRINGE BENEFITS AND MILEAGE FOR PROGRAMMATIC OPERATIONS WHEREAS, the County of San Diego through the San Diego County Sheriff's Department received funding from the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 through June 30, 2022 for the enforcement action of Assembly Bill 340- Disarming Prohibited Persons; and WHEREAS, the Disarming Prohibited Persons (DPP) Program is a reimbursable grant for law enforcement in the enforcement of removing firearms from prohibited persons as outlined by this grant; and WHEREAS, as one of the participating agencies, the National City Police Department's share of the total grant amount is $10,000, which the Department of Justice determines based on the a city's population and number of prohibited persons in the city; and WHEREAS, the National City Police Department's participation is governed by a Memorandum of Agreement with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, who serves as the grant's fiscal; and WHEREAS, the National City Police Department plans to spend all $10,000 on overtime, fringe benefits, and vehicle mileage with no matching funds and no impact on the general fund; and WHEREAS, City of National City staff recommends authorizing the acceptance of the DPP grant, in the amount of $10,000 for FY 2020 through FY 2022. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of National City hereby authorizes the acceptance of the Disarming Prohibited Persons grant, in the amount of $10,000 for Fiscal Year 2020 through Fiscal Year 2022, and authorizes the Chief of Police to execute the Agreement for the award of the grant funds. Resolution No. 2020 — 213 Page Two BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of National City hereby authorizes the establishment of the Police Department Grants Fund appropriations and a corresponding revenue budget, in the amount of the grant for reimbursement of overtime, fringe benefits and mileage for programmatic operations.
