RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIP( OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A6178 GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF
$58,272.86 FROM THE BOARD OF STATE AND COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS TIONS FOR THE
OFFICER WELLNESS AND MENTAL HEALTH GRANT PROGRAM, AND AUTHORIZING THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF A FISCAL YEAR 2024 APPROPRIATION AND CORRESPONDING
REVENUE BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF 58,272.86.
WHEREAS, an amendment to the State's budget, AB 178, increased the funding available
for peace officer wellness grants to be administered by the Board of State and Community
Corrections (BSCC) from 40 million to $50 million; and
WHEREAS, BSCC awarded a State of California AB1 8 grant to the National City Police
Department (NCFD) in the amount of S58,272.86 for the purpose of improving officer wellness
and expanding mental health sources; and
WHEREAS, NCPD will utilize the grant as follows: (a) establishing officer wellness units
or expanding existing officer wellness units; (b) establishing peer support units or expanding
existing peer support units; (c) services provided by a licensed mental health professional,
counselor, or other professional that works with law enforcement; (d) expanding multiagency
mutual aid programs focused on officer wellness and mental health; and (e) other programs and
services that are evidence based or have a successful track record of enhancing officer wellness.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THECITY OF NATIONAL CITY,
CALIFORNIA DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That the City Council hereby authorizes the acceptance of State of California
AB178 grant funds from the Board of State and Community Corrections in the amount of
$58,272.86for the Officer Wellness and Mental Health Grant Program.
Section 2: That the City Council authorizes the establishment of a Fiscal Year 2024
appropriation and a corresponding revenue budget in the amount of 8,2.E ..
Section 3: That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution
and enter it into the book of original Resolutions.
