Strata Equity Corp., a general partner of Strata Equity VI, a California Limited Partnership, and owner of the Sweetwater Town and Country Shopping Center at 1536 Sweetwater Road, has submitted a request to the Engineering Department to release an old drainage easement for the shopping center. The easement, which was recorded March 4, 1949, was originally conveyed to the County of San Diego as right-of-way for the use of a drainage channel. When the City was incorporated, the easement was automatically transferred to the City from the County. The easement runs under the site improvements and the shopping center building at 1536 Sweetwater Road, and it is no longer used or needed. There is also no physical evidence of a drainage system at this location. As the area was developed, the Sweetwater River drainage channel was re-routed, and a new easement reflecting the actual conditions was recorded with the filing of Map No. 8432 on December 10, 1976. Refer to the plat attached to the Quitclaim Deed for the location of the old easement, no longer in use, and the new realigned easement next to Staples Store in the shopping center. THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of National City that the Mayor is hereby authorized to approve and authorize the execution of a quitclaim deed for the release and transfer of a drainage easement at the Sweetwater Town and Country Shopping Center.
