RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA,
REVISING THE JOB DESCRIPTIONS FOR FIVE (5) EXISTING JOB CLASSIFICATIONS,
REVISING THE JOB DESCRIPTION AND JOB TITLE FOR ONE (1) EXISTING JOB
CLASSIFICATION, AND CREATING ONE (1) NEW JOB CLASSIFICATION.
WHEREAS, City staff recommends approving the revisions of the job descriptions for the
existing Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, Fire Battalion Chief, and Police Records
Supervisor classifications; and
WHEREAS, City staff recommends approving the revision of the job description for the
existing City Librarian classification and changing the title to Director of Library Services; and
WHEREAS, City staff recommends creating the new classification of Senior Crime and
Intelligence Analyst; and
WHEREAS, the Civil Service Commission of the City of National City approved the
revision of the five (5) existing classifications, the revision of the job description and job title for
one (1) existing classification, and the creation of one (1) new classification, all discussed above
and as shown in Exhibits B through Exhibit H, at their regular meeting on May 14, 2025.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That the City Council hereby authorizes the revisions to the job descriptions
for the positions of Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, Fire Battalion Chief and Police Records
Supervisor.
Section 2: That the City Council hereby authorizes the revisions to the job description
and job title for the position of City Librarian and changing the job title to Director of Library Services.
Section 3: That the City Council hereby authorizes the creation of the classification of
Senior Crimes and Intelligence Analyst.
Section 4: That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution
and enter it into the book of original Resolutions.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 2nd day of Septe ber, 2025.
