RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN APPROPRIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF
$532,190.71 AND CORRESPONDING REVENUE BUDGET WITH THE ADDITION OF
$86,179.71 IN ASSET FORFEITURE FUNDS FOR THE PURCHASE AND BUILDOUT OF A
LENCO BEARCAT ARMORED VEHICLE.
WHEREAS, on August 5, 2025, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2025-80
authorizing entering into an agreement with City of San Diego Office of Emergency Services for
the distribution of $507,211.00 of FY 2024 UASI Grant Funds and authorizing the establishment
of an appropriation and corresponding revenue budget for, among other things, the purchase of
a Lenco Bearcat Armored Rescue Vehicle (the "Bearcat"); and
WHEREAS, the City Council appropriated $446,011.37 for the purchase of the Bearcat
but, due to inflation, current sales tax, and the necessity of a performance bond, the updated
cost for the Bearcat is $532,190.71; and
WHEREAS, additional budget appropriations in the amount of $86,179.71 from the Police
Department Asset Forfeiture Fund are necessary to fund the increased cost of the Bearcat.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NATIONAL CITY,
CALIFORNIA, DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: That the City Council hereby authorizes the establishment of an appropriation
of $532,190.71 and corresponding revenue budget based on $446,011.37 from the FY 2024
Urban Area Security Initiative grant and $86,179.71 from Police Department Asset Forfeiture
Funds for the purchase of a Bearcat armored vehicle for the Police Department.
Section 2: That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution
and enter it into the book of original Resolutions.
